Ranchi
Located in the valley of Chhotanagpur at an altitude of 2140 feet, Ranchi
is the capital of Jharkhand. Mystifying waterfalls, exquisite temples,
gigantic rocks and hillocks and reputed educational institutions are the key
attractions of the city of Ranchi. The city is also visited by innumerable
business travellers on the ground of its mineral wealth. And for the
adventure freaks the place also offers some popular wildlife parks. Once the
summer capital of Bihar, the city of Ranchi is a favourite haunt of the
tourists and visitors from far and wide. The Subarnarekha river flows by the
side of the city.
Climate
The city of Ranchi is gifted with a salubrious climate. During the summers
the temperature rises to a maximum of 37 degrees and during the winters it
goes down to a minimum of 10 degrees centigrade. Julyto October is the time
of the monsoons. September to May is the ideal time to visit.
Major attractions
» Ranchi Hill -Ranchi Hill is the prime attraction
of the place. The hill provides the visitors with a panoramic view of the
area. And atop the hill is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
» Ranchi Lake - Ranchi lake lies at the foot of the
Ranchi Hill. The lake is a beautiful feather in Ranchi's cap and attracts a
fair number of tourists.
» Tagore Hill - The city of Ranchi has the Tagore
Hill on its outer boundary. The hill was named after Rabindranath Tagore who
was like a gem in the field of literature. At the foot of the hill lies the
Ram Kishore Ashram.
» Jagannath Temple -

The
Jagannath Temple is a 17th-century miracle and stands at a distance of 10 km
from the city of Ranchi. Here the Annula Rath Yatra is held every year in
the month of June/July.
» Hundru and Jonha Falls -
The Subarnarekha river cascades down from an altitude of 320 feet giving
rise to the intoxicating Hundru Falls. To exhilarate you more are the pools
that are fabulous picnic and bathing spots. Jonha Falls is yet another
beauty providing you with picturesque surroundings.
Shopping
Ranchi takes great pride in its fair number of shopping complexes. The
Ashirwad Shopping Complex, Centre Point, Anand Bazar and the Gel Church
Complex are the major shopping complexes in the main road area. Arzan Palace
and Pradhan Tower near the over bridge are also fantastic shopping points.
