hotel. Afternoon sightseeing tour of city visiting fort St. George, St
Mary's Church building, Kapaleshwar temple San Thome Cathedral Overnight

Leave Chennai by car / coach for Mahabalipuram
via Kanchipuram, visiting temple located 64kms from Chennai, one of
Hinduism's seven most sacred cities Arrive Mahabalipuram and check in at
hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3 -- »
in Mahabalipuram Morning, visit temple of Mahabalipuram, built by
the palaver ruler in the seventh century. The complex comprises of 14 cave -
temple, nine monolithic Rathas , three stone temple and two relief
sculptured rock panels. Rest of the time free. To enjoy the beach Overnight

Day 4 -- » Mahabalipuram
- chidambaram - Darasuram - Tanjore 255kms. Approximately 5-6hrs
Leave Mahabalipuram by car / coach for Tanjore en-route visiting
Chidambaram, the capital of the Cholas from AD 907 to 1310. It is one of
Tamil Nadu's most important holy towns. The temple located in the center of
the town covers an area of 40acres, the roof of the sanctum sanctorum is
covered with gold plates. The Sivakamiamman temple, The Sivaganga tank, the
thousand-pillar halls are other important features of the temple. Also later
visit the temple of Darasuram. On arrival, check in at hotel. Overnight stay

Day 5 -- » in Tanjore
Morning sightseeing tour of city visiting the Brihadeeshwara Temple, the old
town, the Raja Museum and the art gallery. Afternoon excursion to Trichy
visiting the Rock fort Temple. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 6 -- » Tanjore by car / coach for Madurai. On arrival,
check in at hotel. Afternoon sightseeing tour of city visiting Tirrumalai
Nayak palace, Thirumohur and Meenakshi temple. Evening watch prayer ceremony

Leave Madurai by car / coach for periyar on arrival, check in at

from here board the kettuvallam (houseboat) for cruising on backwaters.
